Residents along KS Highway 99 Join Forces to Host 1st Annual Fabulous Finds on 99
“Come buy with me, let’s buy, let’s buyaway…”
Hop in your car and head to the Flint Hills on September 21-22 for a weekend of bargain shopping, treasure hunting, picking and more.
Representatives from Pottawatomie, Wabaunsee, Lyon, Greenwood and Elk Counties met last week to discuss the creation of a new event: Fabulous Finds on 99. With the goal of promoting tourism and economic development in the communities along Kansas’ Highway 99 through the Flint Hills, the committee hopes the event will bring outside money into its communities and help locals get rid of some of their “junk”.
“With the success of the Highway 36 Treasure Hunt, Great U.S. 50 Yard Sale and others, we thought why not Highway 99,” committee member Julie Roller said. “It will be a fun-filled two days of garage sales, downtown business specials and more. If you enjoy watching shows like American Pickers, Storage Wars and others, then you’ll love Fabulous Finds on 99. You never know what you’ll find!”
Kansas Highway 99 spans 233 miles through the Flint Hills and passes through the counties of Marshall, Pottawatomie, Wabaunsee, Lyon, Greenwood, Elk and Chautauqua.
“Each community will be doing something different. From city-wide garage sales to booths set up in parking lots along the highway, there will be ample opportunities to search for bargains” Roller said.
For more information, please visit: www.findson99.com or Facebook at: Fabulous Finds on 99. Those interested in participating are encouraged to contact their local Chamber of Commerce or Julie Roller at the Pottawatomie County Economic Development Corporation at: (785) 456-9776 to be directed to a local committee representative.

- Listings will be sold for $25 each and divided amongst the towns. I.e.) Town name – Wamego, beneath would have a listing of all of the advertisers – Oz Winery, Vanderbilt’s, etc.
- The back of each shirt can accommodate up to 50 listings.
- Goal would be to sell 100 listings and then divide it into two shirts - a north/south 99 shirt. If more are sold, then it could be divided into north, central, south, etc. The main goal is to give everyone an opportunity to be on the shirt. If only 50 listing are sold, then there will ony be one shirt.
