In 2007, Emporia is celebrating 150 years as a city! A year-long celebration is planned and you are invited. The 150th Organizing Committees as well as several other committes have been meeting and we invite you to participate in the planning and/or attending the events. For information on how you can be involved in the 150th Anniversary Celebration, contact the Emporia Area Chamber & Visitors Bureau at 620-342-1803, 800-279-3730, or visitors@emporiakschamber.org.

If you would like us to place your 150th event on this website, please complete a Calendar Event Form or submit your event online under the Community Calendar on our website and we will publish your event. It has to say "150th" somewhere in the information for us to add it to this web page.

150th Anniversary Events

July 3, 2007 - 150th Anniversary Concert with Kelley Hunt, Albert Taylor Hall, Plumb Hall, Emporia State University.

7:30 p.m. - Opening Act: Callie Agler Chambliss, formerly of Emporia, and husband Michael Chambliss.

8:15 p.m. - Featuring internationally known Kelley Hunt, Roots R&B / Americana singer/songwriter, piano player, formerly of Emporia.

July 4, 2007 - 150th Anniversary Celebration
Downtown Emporia on Mechanic Street between 6th & 8th Avenues.

9 a.m.- 3 p.m. - Street Multi-Cultural Festival featuring food, entertainment, arts, and crafts of all the cultures of Emporia.

10 a.m. - 150th Anniversary Parade, from 4th to 12th Avenues on Commercial Street.

9:30 p.m. - Fireworks Extravaganza, Lyon County Fairgrounds.
